Tom HinsbyTom Hinsby
Dentist
Tandlaege Aarhus 1972
GDC No.64662

I graduated from The Royal Colleges of Dentistry Copenhagen and Aarhus, Denmark.

We were lucky to have world – class professors from Scandinavia working at the forefront of Periodontitis (gum disease), implantology and public health.

A strong ethical code, concerning preventative measures, restorative work i.e. fillings were made with minimal removal of tooth structure, had a strong influence on my ethical code to this day.

I have many years of experience in dentistry. Spent many years as a clinical teacher at University,

Worked at a University hospital, maxillo-facial Dept. for 8 years. During my two years of National Service I started a military career as an officer in the Royal Danish Medical corps, specialising in facial injuries and other traumas of the face, teeth and mouth. I have served in the Gulf War and twice in Bosnia.

I learned so much about myself and other people during the years in war zones. Most of all to show Respect and empathy for people who needed help whoever they were, and whatever the situation.

So I have put my dentistry into a framework of continuous learning, following relevant courses like:

Dealing with dental phobia (seattle), with anti –snoring devices, implantology (Boston), diseases of the mouth (Oral pathology /histopathology), IV – sedation, sports Dentistry (UCL), tooth-whitening and more.

Children's oral health is important, perhaps more important than anything else in our work because there is the opportunity to start the good cycle of good habits regarding oral/dental health and health in general. I have worked as a Chief Dental officer being responsible for the dental health of children and some elderly people in a region in DK. I enjoyed it.

I see myself as a dentist on a mission to create good dental and oral care for my patients and do that in a calm and relaxed way

In my spare time I am a rowe , as an ex-Olympian you cannot escape the excitement of competition.

I read and listen to the music I enjoy.
